Starting a business has never been easier than today or tomorrow or even the next day… Point is in the world of online business you can be up and running in less than 24hrs.
But now that you have your brainchild available to the public how do you make a wave?
First Step
Set up an account with an email service provider (ESP) like MailChimp and create a signup landing page so you have somewhere to point prospecting customers.
Second Step
Set up social media accounts on all of the social media networks that fit your type of business, for example, Instagram for business to consumers (B2C) and Linkedin for business to business (B2B). Start posting relevant content about your business including images, videos, and copy on those social media networks with links to your signup landing page while direct messaging (DMing), potential customers, about your product and the value it could bring them.
Third Step
Begin the process or creating short and sweet newsletters in your email service provider and sending them out once a week to those who have signed up through your signup landing page. Include content about anything new happening within the business and show how thankful you are for the subscribers even if they haven’t converted yet. Only ask them if they would be willing to forward or share your newsletter with their friends at this step.
Fourth Step
Start attending relevant local trade shows and networking events with samples or talking points on the value of your business and get to mingling! Tell them all about your newsletter and how they can keep up with your business and it’s progress by simply signing up. If you can have a phone or tablet on you with the signup landing page pulled up it can be a simple transition to just ask if they want to do it then.
Fifth Step
At this point, you should have gathered a small group of followers and email subscribers. Now it’s time to dive into the data and find out what is working and what isn’t. Start looking at your social posts and see which ones are getting the most interaction vs those that have very little likes or comments. It’s time to turn up the volume on the posts that are performing well and to start posting more about those topics. Also, take this as an opportunity to tweak your next newsletter to include more around the topics you found people engaged the most with on social.
More To Come
Guess what, if you made it to the fifth step you have started to build your momentum! This means that you now have a process in place that will garner growth for your business for the time being. But that’s not enough to sustain your business, is it? NO WAY, you need to shake things up, make a splash, or do something crazy and creative right!?
Check back for part 2 as we dive deeper into why it takes a stampede to grow your business.
